For the past eight years, I’ve watched what’s gone on in Detroit from Seattle. I’ve commented on it, photographed it and done nothing about it. I feel guilty because of it.

So, I decided to move to Detroit for a year and photograph my experience. Here’s who I met, what I experienced and what I learned about a city I grew up next to, but know nothing about.
